OHIP-Covered Family Medicine Services in Ontario — Coming Soon

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights will soon be offering virtual family medicine services for eligible patients in Ontario. These services will be provided by a licensed family physician and may be covered by OHIP for patients with a valid Ontario Health Card.

Family medicine can play an important role in supporting both physical and mental health. Through family medicine services, patients may be able to access general medical care, referrals, medication review, care coordination, and support for health concerns that may intersect with emotional well-being, functioning, and mental health.

Patients who are interested in beginning psychodynamic psychotherapy may book a consultation with one of our clinicians. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is available to patients across Canada, while family medicine is available only to patients located in Ontario.

Mental health concerns can be closely connected to physical health, sleep, stress, medication, medical conditions, and life circumstances. A family physician can help assess the broader medical picture and support patients in understanding whether additional medical care, psychiatric care, psychotherapy, neurology, or other specialized services may be appropriate.

Family medicine services may help with concerns such as medication questions, physical symptoms affecting mental health, referrals to specialists, general health concerns, and coordination between different parts of a patient’s care.

Family Medicine and Mental Health

What Family Medicine May Help With

Family medicine services may support patients with:

  • General medical concerns

  • Medication review and follow-up

  • Referrals to psychiatry, neurology, psychotherapy, or other services

  • Care coordination

  • Preventive health guidance

  • Sleep, stress, fatigue, or functioning concerns

  • Medical concerns that may affect emotional well-being

Integrated Care

At the Centre for Psychodynamic Insights, our goal is to support patients through a thoughtful and integrated approach to care. Family medicine services will help strengthen the connection between medical and mental health support, allowing patients to access care that considers both their physical and emotional well-being.

While family medicine can help with medical assessment, referrals, and treatment planning, it does not replace psychotherapy. Patients seeking deeper support for emotional, relational, or psychological concerns may also book a consultation for psychodynamic psychotherapy.

Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Across Canada

Psychodynamic psychotherapy is currently available virtually to patients across Canada. This service does not require a medical referral.

Psychodynamic psychotherapy offers a space to explore emotional distress, relationship patterns, self-understanding, internal conflicts, defences, and unconscious processes that may contribute to current symptoms or difficulties.

Family Medicine Ontario

We will soon be offering quality and accessible family medicine services virtually across Ontario.
