OHIP-Covered Neurology Services in Ontario— Coming Soon

The Centre for Psychodynamic Insights will soon be offering virtual neurology services for eligible patients located in Ontario. These services will be provided by a neurologist and may be covered by OHIP for patients with a valid Ontario Health Card.

Neurology focuses on concerns related to the brain, nerves, cognition, movement, sensation, headaches, and other nervous system symptoms. For some patients, neurological symptoms may also overlap with mental health, emotional well-being, attention, sleep, memory, and daily functioning.

Patients who are interested in beginning psychodynamic psychotherapy may book a consultation with one of our clinicians. Psychodynamic psychotherapy is available to patients across Canada, while neurology services are available only to patients located in Ontario.

Neurological and mental health concerns can sometimes affect one another. Symptoms such as brain fog, fatigue, memory difficulties, concentration problems, sleep disturbance, dizziness, headaches, numbness, tingling, or changes in functioning may benefit from neurological assessment, especially when symptoms are persistent, unclear, or affecting daily life.

A neurologist can help assess whether symptoms may be related to neurological factors and provide recommendations for next steps, treatment, investigation, or coordination with other medical and mental health providers.

Neurology and Mental Health

What Neurology Services May Help With

Neurology services may support patients experiencing concerns such as:

  • Headaches or migraines

  • Dizziness or balance concerns

  • Memory or cognitive difficulties

  • Brain fog or concentration concerns

  • Numbness, tingling, or sensory changes

  • Weakness or changes in movement

  • Sleep-related neurological concerns

  • Neurological symptoms affecting daily functioning

  • Concerns requiring specialist neurological assessment

What to Expect During a Neurology Appointment

Once this service becomes available, a neurology appointment may include a review of the patient’s current symptoms, medical history, medication history, relevant family history, and any previous assessments or investigations.

The neurologist may ask about when symptoms began, how they have changed over time, what makes them better or worse, and how they affect daily functioning. Depending on the patient’s needs, the neurologist may provide diagnostic clarification, treatment recommendations, referrals for additional testing when appropriate, medication recommendations, or guidance about follow-up care.

Integrated Care

At the Centre for Psychodynamic Insights, our goal is to support patients through thoughtful and integrated care. Neurology services will help strengthen access to medical assessment for symptoms that may affect cognition, functioning, emotional well-being, and mental health.

While neurology focuses on the nervous system, psychotherapy can help patients explore the emotional, relational, and psychological patterns that may contribute to distress, coping, and overall well-being.
